Cincinnati
If you have never visited Cincinnati, I highly recommend you schedule a trip. Of course it's my hometown. I was born and raised here but there is so much to do. Cincinnati is a town of art and culture. There are many museums, theaters, and historic buildings in Cincinnati. Cincinnati was an important stop on the Underground Railroad because of the location close to the Ohio River. Cincinnati is home to the soap and candle making business, now known as Procter and Gamble. We are also home to the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. If you decide to venture to Cincinnati, you need to check out these things. This is my Cincinnati Bucket list along with my 5 must do events each year.
1. Go to a Cincinnati Bengals game at Paul Brown Stadium! Of course this was going to be number 1. I live for the Bengals. *Top 5 Things- Attend the Steelers vs. Bengals game. The fans are ridiculous and when the Bengals win, the after party is so fun!
2. Less than a mile away.. is Great American Ballpark. Go and see the Reds play. If you cannot make it to a game, they also host concerts. Since both stadiums are close, and there are bars in between. The bars are always poppin' before and after the games. If you're lucky you can catch a Bengals game and Reds playoff game in the same day. *Top 5 Things- Reds Opening Day.
3. Visit the Ohio River. I promise you.. you won't catch a disease or grow extra fingers. It's a great sight to see. *Top 5 Things- If you can make it on a boat, on the Ohio River, for the WEBN Labor Day fireworks, that is the BEST time. By far, one of my favorite events to attend in Cincinnati.
4. Go to Findlay Market. Buy some fresh and local farm goods. It's excellent people watching.
5. See a show at the Aronoff. I love musical theater.
6. Watch the Kentucky Derby! *Top 5 Events- Seeing the Kentucky Derby live in the In Field or seats. I know this is not in Cincinnati. It's about 2 hours, but many Cincinnatians venture to Kentucky to see this event. You can also watch and bet on the race at a local casino or racetrack.
7. Watch a sporting event on Fountain Square. I recently saw the World Cup on the big screen at Fountain Square. It was awesome! So many people, food trucks, drinks, and performers.
8. Attend a church festival. I love to attend local church festivals. Cincinnati is a city where there are multiple church festivals every weekend.
9. Go shopping at Kenwood Mall. I recommend going on a weekday. This mall gets packed on the weekends.
10. Taste of Cincinnati- *Top 5 Events- I love this festival because it involves eating!! I love good food from different cultures. Cincinnati has many small, privately owned businesses and this is a large festival where you can sample food from every restaurant.
11. Octoberfest- This is very similar to Taste of Cincinnati. Downtown is lined with small German booths of food and drinks. This is one of largest Octoberfest parties in the world. Both events get very crowded so prepare to walk and bring cash for vendors.
12. Shop the boutiques in Hyde Park. Excellent and unique stores. It also feels nice to support small, local businesses. The University of Cincinnati has a DAAP program where many big fashion designers graduate from. Most of these start their own boutiques in Cincy to get known. The clothes are beautiful.
13. Eat at famous Cincinnati resturants. Just to name a few of my favorites.. Montgomery Inn Boathouse, Jeff Ruby's, The Celestial, Jag's, Larosas, Nada, and Frischs!
